VRL does not sell your personal information.
Not to advertisers. Not to companies that collect and resell people’s information as a business. Not to any third party for their own commercial use.
This is not a default setting you need to opt out of. It is how VRL operates.
Who this page is for
This page addresses the concerns of users who may be familiar with laws like the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) in the United States, which grants residents the right to opt out of the sale of their personal data.
VRL is a Kenyan company. We are governed by the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019, which also protects your right to control how your personal information is used. That Act does not require a specific “Do Not Sell” opt-out mechanism because selling personal data to third parties for their commercial benefit is already restricted.
We publish this page because you have a right to understand clearly what we do with your information, regardless of which country you are in when you use our site.
What VRL does with your data
We use your data to deliver services to you. If you apply to a program, your information is used to assess fit and run the engagement. If you join VRL Connect as a provider, your information is used to vet you and match you with seekers. If you subscribe to emails, your address is used to send you those emails.
We use aggregated, anonymized data to improve our services. Case studies and patterns from client engagements are used in our content and programs. No identifying information is included without your explicit consent.
We share your data only in the ways described in our Privacy Policy. That includes sharing match information between providers and seekers within VRL Connect, and using third-party tools (email platforms, payment processors, cloud storage) that are necessary to operate the business.
We do not share or sell your data to advertisers. VRL does not run advertising-supported programs. vrl.co.ke does not display paid advertisements. We have no financial relationship with any advertising platform that involves sharing your data.
Your rights under Kenyan law
The Kenya Data Protection Act 2019 gives you the right to:
- Know what personal data VRL holds about you.
- Access a copy of that data.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data, subject to our legal retention obligations.
- Object to certain uses of your data.
To exercise any of these rights, contact privacy@vrl.co.ke. We will respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) of Kenya if you believe your data rights have been violated.
